Introduction Overview This manual explains how to install the Compaq NC3131 Fast Ethernet Server Adapter and its optional upgrade modules. The modular capabilities of the NC3131 Server Adapter allow you to install or upgrade existing PCI servers with 10 or 100 Mb/s Ethernet networks now, while offering the ability to upgrade to 1 Gb/s fiber SX and LX, or Gigabit over copper.
The NC3131 Server Adapter also operates in a standard 32-bit PCI slot and supports both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Figure 1-1. Compaq NC3131 Ethernet Server Adapter NC3131 Server Adapter Illustration The NC3131 Server Adapter has two RJ-45 ports.
