Manual Installation Procedure Before manually installing the operating system, create a set of Compaq Support Paq (CSP) diskettes, and then create a logical boot drive on the new server. Creating CSP Diskettes The CSP diskettes contain the drivers that you need during manual installation of the operating system.
Installing the Operating System Microsoft Windows 2000 1. Start installing Windows 2000 as directed by the operating system instructions. 2. Press the F6 key when instructed to do so by a message that is briefly displayed at the bottom of the screen. NOTE: If you do not press the F6 key during the interval that the prompt is displayed, you must restart the operating system installation.
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 1. Start the Windows NT installation directly from the operating system CD. Do not use boot diskettes built from the CD. 2. Follow the on-screen instructions. 1. Install the operating system using the drivers on the Linux Distribution CD. 2. Restart the system. 3. After installing the operating system, you may update the drivers using the Red Hat Package Manager (RPM) that is located at www.compaq.com/support.
